Guest Speaking

Besides writing, another one of my talents/gifts (although my family would say it’s a fault of mine) is talking. I thoroughly enjoy guest speaking. Speaking opportunities give me a chance to reach out to others, connect with people whether they are affiliated with agriculture or not and I enjoy sharing the unexpected lessons my lifestyle and writing has taught me about facing unpleasant situations in life. I encourage any inquiries about guest speaking at your future event–no pressure.

In my presentation, A Ranchwife’s Slant: Connecting with People Through Humor and Agriculture, I share my story; how my constant search for entertaining topics to write about in my column inadvertently created a coping tool for dealing with the challenges, setbacks, and hardships that go hand-in-hand with the work involved with agriculture. I share personal stories about ranch life experiences and talk about the value of humor when faced with challenges, difficult circumstances, problems, and hardships.

It has been an honor to guest speak for the following organizations and their events:

Rock County Farm Bureau Annual Meeting, Luverne, MN
South Dakota Young Farmers and Ranchers Conference, Spearfish, SD
South Dakota Independent Insurors, Oacoma, SD
Presho Historical Society, Presho, SD
DakotaFest Women’s Brunch, Mitchell, SD
Wyoming Women in Ag, Casper, WY
Lyman County Farm Bureau Annual Dinner, Presho, SD
Darrell’s Oil Customer Appreciation Dinner, Wessington Springs, SD

Yankton Area Ag Gala, Yankton, SD

Please call me at 605.673.2063 or email me at to arrange a phone conversation for further discussion.

Hi – I work with a family farmer, Doug Stephan, who owns a family dairy farm just west of Boston, MA and he also hosts a national radio program, called “The American Family Farmer.” He would like very much like to have you on to discuss your book “A Ranchwife’s Slant.” The interview would last from ten to fifteen minutes on the telephone.

Please let me know if you would be available tomorrow (Thursday) morning, the 8th at 10:30am Eastern time. You can email back
